DESCRIPTION: The latest addition of beautiful resort in Redang at Pasir Panjang Beach, opened in early 2004. The resort boast an immaculate local Terengganu architecture and Malay kampong theme.
FACILITIES: Run of the House (ROH) rooms, Deluxe, Sea View Deluxe and Suites, a massive restaurant, beach bar, hot shower, tastefully designed room with timber floor and verandah, a large swimming pool, karaoke bar, dive shop and its own dedicated jetty.
ATTRACTIONS: The resort is fronting the beautiful and crystal clear Pasir Panjang Beach where one can laze in the sun, swim or snorkel. The beach is long and wide, enough for your own personal space. The view is amazing.
Alternatively, I strongly recommend making a boat trip to the secluded Pasir Kalong Beach which offers amazing beach sans the crowd.
Snorkeling spots can also be found at the beach fronting the resort. To the far left side is a popular snorkeling spot called Tanjung Tengah which is known for its colony of juvenile blacktip reef sharks. The beach section closer to Redang Reef Resort is called Tanjung Mak Cantik offers some decent coral growths between the boulder rocks.
PRICING: I paid RM500+ for one night in a Deluxe Sea View room. Unfortunately the pricing is deemed expensive by any standard. There is also surcharges for school holiday or public leaves, so please ask in advance.
ROH rooms starts at RM330 but these usually will be overbooked quickly due to the popularity of this resort among tourists, especially those from Taiwan and HK who wanted to take photographs of the MoMo Tea House made famous by a Chinese movie.
For room-only package, be prepared for another RM90 for round trip boat from Merang Jetty. And one has to find own food but it is no problem with many restaurants along the beach. The boats depart early morning from Merang and the journey takes about 1 hr 15 minutes.
