DESCRIPTION: The resort is located on Pasir Panjang Besar, sandwiched by Ayu Mayang Resort and Redang Lagoon Resort. Journey from the dedicated jetty at Merang to the resort will take about 45 minutes.
Be warned that this resort seems to be catered for large number of patrons. During high season, it can get particularly crowded. Normally, one does not have choice because rooms on the island are quickly taken, especially during public holidays of either Malaysia or Singapore.
FACILITIES: This resort boasts a whopping number of rooms, 76 available units to be exact, made up of either 1- or 2-storey blocks as well as chalet-style units. If you do not fancy living in military-style blocks with long corridors and compromised privacy, you can always opt for the chalet-type, which has 24 units available for rent.
The most basic room is a standard unit with minimum furnishing, while family room is definitely bigger and can accommodate 5-8 persons. The deluxe rooms are nicer with wooden decorative themes. All rooms come with attached bathroom and air conditioner.
There is actually a small swimming pool in the middle of the resort (more like a children's playground than anything else). Just like the swimming pool at Coral Redang Resort, it is severely under-utilised by its patrons because the real beach is just in front of the resort.
There is one main restaurant at the resort which looks more like a high-volume canteen than anything else. There are also a few smaller cafes within the resort where guests from nearby resorts may patron for a quick meal.
ATTRACTIONS: The resort is fronting the beautiful beach of Pasir Panjang Besar. A short walk to the right will bring you to Pasir Panjang Kecil which is equally mesmerizing, if not more spectacular when it comes to scenic beach views and powdery soft sands.
A boat trip can also be arranged to visit the Marine Park Jetty at Pulau Pinang, where good snorkeling can be done, or Pasir Kalong Beach for a relaxing time under the tropical sun.
There are plenty of snorkeling options near the resort too. You can try snorkeling at Tanjung Tengah, which separates Pasir Panjang Kecil with Pasir Panjang Besar, or at Tanjung Mak Cantik fronting Redang Reef Resort. A decent snorkeling trip can also be arranged to either Pulau Paku Besar or Paku Kecil by boat.
PRICING: A regular 3D2N package will cost about RM400 (twin-sharing basis) on weekdays, and the rate will go up to about RM450 on weekends as well as public holidays. The package will normally include return boat transfer from Merang Jetty to Redang, daily meals including BBQ dinner on one of the nights, standard lodging and snorkeling trips.
