DESCRIPTION: I found this resort a bit unique in a sense that its compound is split by two by Fauna Beach Chalet. I was not sure why, perhaps due to land ownership issues. In fact, the resort conveniently denote the demarcation by naming its two compounds, Flora Bay Resort I and Flora Bay Resort II, respectively.
Overall, this is a decent resort to stay. The amenities provided aren't many, but sufficient enough for a great island vacation in a traditional kampong-style chalets and terraces. The rooms aren't particularly great in general, with steel beds and somber colours, but one probably couldn't be bothered because it is highly likely that you will need to stay inside the room for the whole day anyway.
FACILITIES: There are plenty of room units to choose from, namely Superior Double Beach Front with air-conditioner (12 units), Deluxe Double (5 units), Deluxe Triple (2 units), Deluxe Triple with fan (10 units), Family Villa (2 units), Family Villa with fan (2 units), A-frame chalets with air-conditioner (3 units), A-frame chalets with fan (3 units) and Deluxe Garden View (42 units).
Other than that, the resort offers 2 restaurants, a dive centre, a couple of beach volleyball courts, etc.
ATTRACTIONS: Fronting the resort is the beach of Teluk Dalam. To me, the beach is not particularly nice as compared to the beach on Teluk Pauh. Nonetheless, the beach is extremely long with most parts are covered with soft powdery sands (but some parts are just rocky with coral debris). You can also snorkel at this beach, though my snorkeling excursion wasn't of anything worth mentioning.
As for diving, many dive boats will depart to Tokong Laut (or Temple Sea Mount) early in the morning. There are other dive sites close to Teluk Dalam, such as Shark's Point and Terumbu Tiga (Tiger Rocks). Flora Bay Dive Centre at the resort can take care of all your diving needs.
PRICING: Superior Double Beach Front goes for RM180 per night, Deluxe Double (RM120), Deluxe Triple (RM140), Deluxe Triple with fan (RM90), Family Villa (RM150), Family Villa with fan (RM100), A-frame chalets with air-conditioner (RM100), A-frame chalets with fan (RM70) and Deluxe Garden View (RM50). Boat transfer from Kuala Besut jetty will cost RM30 per way. MY RATING: |
