LOCATION:
Giam Island is one of the 2 smaller islands fronting Nipah Bay (Teluk Nipah). The other neighboring island is Pulau Mentagor. Nipah Bay is about 10 minutes by taxi van ride from Pangkor Island Beach Resort.

DESCRIPTION:

While the beach at Giam Island looks clean and clear enough for a nice dip, the underwater does not hold the same promise. The water is very murky and probably not suitable for snorkeling whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong though. There are some marine life here, but you barely can see anything. There are some variety of fish, but they are mostly restricted to common damselfish like Pacific sergeant, among other.

The coral growth also is not so good, if there is any. There are a few boulder rocks that have some hard corals growing on them but probably not worth much of a mention.

I guess I was just trying out snorkeling here for the heck of it, that's all. The result was expected though.

MY RATING:
